This little meta justification for Wincest ties the story to canon very satisfyingly.

Yes, that line basically sums up the intent of the fic. What if this story didn't have that scope, was ordinary and next door instead of mythic. It starts looking quite different.

Sam was statue-still, wide-eyed. Dean half-smiled, went on, "You can't break up with family, Sam. You're gonna try, though."

That just says everything about those two in this story.

To me the most fascinating part of this fic is how much more clear the underlying themes of the show (that resonate so strongly with fans) become when the supernatural element is removed.
