I believe I read Logopetria the first day or so it came out, and adored it. I love words and their nuances, and I love figuring things out from languages I don’t technically know how to read/speak ( Read more... )

and thanks for pointing out how people react differently to people who aren't functioning at factory standard.

You're welcome. It's a spectacular short story and definitely one that will remain among my all-time favourites.

Yeah, it's an ongoing pet peeve of mine, and it can show up in so many different ways. For me (these days), particularly frustrating are those times when you're having a really good day, perhaps the first in weeks or months, so you actually make it out to someplace with minimal pain or whatever the 'usual' obstacles to getting out and about are, and someone yells at you for parking in a disabled space, despite actually having the proper tags, just because for once you aren't moving like you were recently hit by a large transport truck.

Still, I'm sure that the accountants in the healthcare system would be delighted to know they can replace MRI's with psychics ... ;-)

Just sayin'. *g*

I only saw this now! Why did I only see this now? *kicks self*

This is absolutely wonderful, both seeing how different things - intentional and unintentional - worked for you and you juxtaposing them with your own experiences. It seems like taking this on became a lot more personal than you'd intended, and I can't thank you enough for sharing this with me. With all of us.

Thank you. *hugs*

*nods* I'm a big fan of DVD commentaries, though I read far fewer than I probably would/should. I've learned many interesting things from both authors' self-commentaries as well as those of readers' ... plus, of course, revisited some great stories.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

You're most welcome. Rereading it (yet again) I'm still not sure I'm as clear on some points as I'd like to be, but I'm still at a loss as to how to do that without creating a 30,000 word treatise on coping with unexpected disability that would still, at the end of the day, feel very 'wanky' to me. ;-)

Why yes, I utterly suck at writing out personal stuff ... note almost total absence of personal stuff in my LJ world, lol
