Because, with the exception of the Doctor’s “You’re wrong, Jack” argument which she couldn’t have foreseen, Becky has completely captured the dynamic between the two men that we saw on-screen in Utopia and, afterwards, at the end of The Last of the Time Lords.
Yes! Very much the same dynamic, only, as you said, with the added bonus of kink. :)
The Doctor was doing most of that for Jack, rather than himself. Or is this just spelling out that the Doctor was as unsure of himself as Jack was?
I'll be interested to hear what Becky has to say about that. I'm guessing the former, as it was mostly Jack who needed to move on.
I enjoyed reading your commentary! It was interesting and I found myself nodding in agreement a lot.
(And this is where it gets really spooky. Because this was written before Utopia aired and yet… the Doctor sing-songing “Ja-ack”? It’s exactly like that bit in the radiation room in Utopia. And the Doctor wasn’t being gentle there either. Becky, how did you get this so absolutely, perfectly right.
I. Have no idea but the Doctor sing-songing Jack sounded right - and now I know why I bounced out of my chair when it happened in Utopia.

Yeah. I think the Doctor was pretty unsure, too. I don't think he's selfless enough to have done it JUST for Jack, but that they were going to have an uncomfortable awkward fit.
And and and! Thank you. This was awesome to read and *so* freaking interesting to see what you picked up on and noticed and just excited the ever loving heck out of me. Thank you, so very much.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I really, really enjoyed doing it - reminded me how much I used to like doing those 'comprehension' exercises in English at school, only more because at school they weren't usually on stories with two hot men having sex! *grin*

Actually, it may be partly why I did too. It definitely felt familiar when I saw the episode. And yes, it is very characteristic of the Tenth Doctor - he singsongs a lot - but the way that both you and the episode have him saying that, as a prod to Jack to pay attention and answer his question - it's so very dommy (I hate that word but can't think of a better one) and so very him. Makes my insides go all gooey.

Oh, I didn't think he'd done it just for Jack, but I did wonder if perhaps he would have preferred not to be quite so rough/hard on him - that perhaps he wasn't as into
( ... )
Oh, yeah. I think definitely he would have normally not done it *quite* that way. I don't think it was comfortable for him.
...You know, I didn't think about it at the time, but. The Doctor, even though it's Jack's POV. I was seeing Jack/watching Jack/feeling Jack react through him.
Well, isn't that interesting! I wonder how many other stories that would be true for? And if other people saw it the same or if it was just a co-incidence on my part?

That's just. Odd.
