papermint made a post about changing her name in marriage. That made me think about The Husband's and my decision to pick a new surname

I don't blame you for not wanting to reveal your full name; when I did it was sort of like stepping outside in the nude, possibly with my social security number painted on my body. I'm already pushing it by going by my first name on the internet, but I always hide my last name...UNTIL NOW. And also, subsequently. I might delete that post in a few weeks, to be honest.
I think considering your beliefs and what you guys like you shouldn't feel disingenuous having a Latin "Italian" last name. It's your name, you can do with it what you want. I think it's kind of cool, to be honest, even if it is a hassle.
Also, YES and also WHY to people thinking Catholic tradition = 1940s America for no reason. Nope. I know because of history.
I think I might have said this before? Oh well. I really wanted to combine our surnames, because he is a Mac... and I figured we could put my surname in the place of his original ... But husband was totally unimpressed by the idea, and actively wanted me to take his surname, so I did. And now his older brother has done Mac+maiden with his wife. Kinda jealous. ;p
My husband offered to hyphenate his name with mine. My parents were totally flattered! Never did anything more than print business cards with them, but it was cute.
I don't want to change my name because I don't feel like it. My mom changed her name and it was totally an acculturation thing. Raised Canadian, yo!
I happen to like my name. The only thing that pisses me off is mispronunciation. ******* **** I have issues that I don't feel like discussing. Misspelling is annoying, but that's what you get with a name that has variable spelling normally. I'm sure Sara(h)s and C/Katherines get that all the time as well.
