I went ahead and ordered another red yarn but I don't have high hopes for it. The product pic looks like it could be right buuut the color name is "rose" and that tends to imply pink. I guess we'll see. I actually found a couple other reds that I had more faith in but the only site I could find them on doesn't ship to the US because of of course, ( Read more... )

I had that same problem with ordering a special red for painting my figures. It needs to be burgundry / wine red for the Voyager dress uniforms.
Usually I would go to the craft shop and look at it there, but alas... I had an old one left from years ago and they all have a number, but nowhere can this number be found and finally I asked and they said it isn't produced for 20 years... and the old one is thick and not much left.

So I tried to find one that matches this but there also was several try and error. At least they are not expensive. I haven't even dared to try the latest I ordered, which is why there is no progress on the dress uniforms right now.

Oof, that sounds like a pain! Honestly, I would almost like to find a discontinued yarn that would work for my purposes here because discontinued yarn often goes at pretty good prices on the secondary market, since there's the risk of not being able to find enough of the right dye lot to finish a project. Discontinued paint always seems to be expensive when I see it, though, I guess because it's harder to keep paint in good condition? Anyway, I'm glad your trials and errors weren't too expensive for you! Whenever you get around to trying the latest, I hope it turns out to be what you need :D
