My running episode commentary for the three episodes that I just watched ... probably not too coherent, and filled with large amounts of random squeeing and profanity. (Because evidently, I have a dirty mouth when I type fast.)
They didn't actually expect the traitor to be a goa'uld. They thought it was a "low level agent" or some such, which meant human. They were wrong, which was part of the surprise.
I *love* the balcony scene. Watch their eye-contact -- or rather, lack of it through most of the scene. It's fantastic. They say so much in subtext! I got truthlostmsr to clip that scene for me so I could watch it over and over. I don't care what the writers and producers think, at this point (okay, I'm trying not to care). You can't write chemistry like that. It's either there or it isn't -- and with John and Elizabeth, it's definitely there.
I can't believe you slogged through all of my commentary! Hell, I probably wouldn't even read all of that, and I wrote it! ;)

Oh, now I get it. I guess I missed that part -- I already knew that Caldwell was a Goa'uld from the spoilers, so I expected that they'd be searching for a Goa'uld, rather than a human operative.

I just rewatched, and ... wow. John barely looks at Elizabeth at all. He looks ... I don't know. Tense? Guilty? Anxious? I have to agree, though, there's a lot that's not being said there.

And by "just can't believe," I mean, "find it hard to believe." *sighs* I really need to read over my comments before I post them, because there is no editing allowed.
