Me too :/ The frustrations were building between Stringer and Avon all season so you could absolutely see them betraying one another coming, but then that final scene with them together reminiscing over the past and "it's just business" really made it clear what a horrible world they were both trapped in...

And LOL I saw something on youtube about how apparently the wiretaps for the real drug dealers were caught discussing The Wire after that episode aired, and how killing Stringer was really cold

I know. :( It was obvious they saw things differently and had opposite approach and feelings about what matters. But, damn. Seeing them laughing like that, knowing they already betrayed each other, it was so sad. And Stringer's face when Avon said "it's just business", the same thing he told him when he admitted what happened to D.
And then of course Omar saying Avon gave him up, and you just see the fight leave him. Idris rocked that scene.

I can't even...I wonder who had more fun with that, cops listening in or the writers when they found out that real life copies of their characters are such passionate fans! lol

I can't recommend it highly enough. It is so well written, and the cast is golden.
