But at the end he says he put it there because he thought she might like some creative input, which I took as an offer to rewrite the story together. And I thought that was the moment when she truly forgave him, because he knew why she was important.

Yeah, I hope that's how they left it. And that Clark's latter "creative input" offer was just a finishing "but I really am sorry. so we're good now, right?"
Great review! Clark was AMAZING in this episode so I have to like it. Although I enjoyed a few of the moments in the earlier Ollie scenes, they just seemed off from a pacing perspective. I would have made those scenes tighter and cut down a bit of the bar exchange leading up to Tess's arrival, and spent that time setting up Lois's arrival at the AoC for example. I want to see that "the tag is still on the dress", if you know what I mean.
Clark really did look like a big strong hero who has everything under control here. :)
I've noticed a lot of people express their problem with the pacing in this episode. But for me it wasn't noticeable. I guess they needed to show Ollie provoke dangerous strangers, and pushing to see in how much trouble he could get into. Without that the suicide wish later on would come a bit out of nowhere.
I want to see that "the tag is still on the dress", if you know what I mean. OMB that was supposed to be in this episode! I totally forgot about that spoiler! Ha ha, that means she stopped somewhere along the way to buy that dress!! Just when I think I couldn't love her more!
Did Lois steal the monster truck? Sweet talk her way into borrowing one? Did she drive it back home to change? Why is there a chunk of plot explaining all that missing?
If you notice, Lois climbs out of the passenger side, then she tells Clark that she left her purse in "Bonedog's" truck. Lois being Lois, she talked some Monster Truck driver into giving her a ride to the banquet.
I love Ollie&Tess too, they're both so messed up but I believe that they understand each other really well, I love how her voice went all soft when she asked him what happened. I love Ollie so having him get a big storyline was nice, especially since it was one that made total sense.
I love love love how they're dealing with Clois, they're both adults and they act like it, it's refreshing.
Clark needed Chloe cause they need to justify the paycheck ;)
I also think Tess gets Ollie really well. But she also always closes off because he was an ass to her the last time, when they were together. But I do like how she still has his back, what with shooting Toyman and warning him to leave Ollie alone. :) They're like the dark, twisted version of Clark and Lois in a way.
Agreed about Chloe. She really wasn't needed in this episode. Clark could have decided to go to Jor-El all by himself, he works at the Planet so he could have heard there that Ollie is back in town, and he could have found Toyman/activated alarm thanks to his powers. And all that would have make him look better and more competent. They really had to force Chloe into this episode. :/
Their scenes were rather delightful. And Clark also got to see that Lois always has a facade up and keeps her real, more vulnerable, side hidden inside. And how much she likes him. And he was all flirty and not willing to let go. And damn, those two are so adorable! ♥
