I think Allison and Kristen probably think it's more "feminist" to change the script this way, but they fail to realize that no one gives a damn because the show is about CLARK.

If that's their view of feminism, than screw their view of feminism. True strong female characters are strong enough on their own and are able to be equals to all male characters as they are, without having to make men look weaker & lame just to look better in comparison.

but they fail to realize that no one gives a damn because the show is about CLARK.
This!
And that is the main problem with the last two episodes.
Clark had nothing to do, and everyone crapped on him to make other characters (mainly Lana)look better.
And it just won't fly.

What? This story isn't supposed to be all about "Girl Power"? Screw Clark Kent, and the future Superman.

Honestly, without reading any interviews, I saw that ALL OVER Power.

I'm pretty sure both of them don't watch Smallville. And it *shows*.

I can't believe there is no higher up that actually cares what the hell they're all doing. Seriously, should DC Comics at least pretend that they're keeping an eye on them?

It's seems to me she put her friendship with KK, and wanting to make her look good, above the show itself. And when you pull something like that when you're directing it's not very professional.

See this is why i've never cared for Allison. In her interviews at the con or whatever, it seems like she views Clark as a lesser character to hers- like he's not actually the most important one. Which, to her yes Chloe is the most important, but she's playing her right? But Clark is meant to be the focus of the Goddamn show bearing in mind it's called smallville.

How the hell does DC let them get away with this? And no it's not more feminist to do things this way. Fuck off with that shit. (sorry about the swearing- I kinda hate the show right now)

Ha! If there's one LJ where you don't have to watch your language, it's here. I cuss like a sailor when I go off. :)

I agree with you that AM seems to see Chloe as more important than she really is on the show.
Case in point:
PW: Do you ever worry that since Chloe Sullivan doesn't exist in the pre-existing Superman mythology that she's still expendable?
Allison: That definitely went through my mind the first few seasons, like, what is my purpose? But I think I've made myself too invaluable to the show at this point. Once Chloe found out Clark's secret I recognized the importance of my character in the show as it was being written now.

Eh.
Pete. Jonathan. Martha. Just to name a few. Knowing a secret doesn't make you indispensable.
Plus, there's still Ollie to take over if something happens to Chloe.

How the hell does DC let them get away with this?
I wonder about that a lot.

Sheesh, everyone on the show except Lex, Lois and the Smallville milkman wound up knowing Clark's secret.

I'm baffled that if DC was, apparently (or maybe it's just a rumor) so bent outta shape about the Clex that they ordered it excised, how the hell they can let a lot of this other crap slide by.

Ha ha, so true.
Except that Lex knows too. LOL

I really don't think they pay attention to the show. There is
no other explanation.

The hell?
I'm all about feminism (It's my thesis theme btw) but I don't think what Allison did was feminist at all. I didn't watch the episodes but seems it was more Mary Sue-ish than feminism the way I see. Make Lana cooler than Clark isn't feminism. Besides, Lois is a better feminism icon (And that's why she is the main theme from my thesis, lol) than Lana will ever be. :P

I'm very disappointed with Allison right now...

They did turn Lana into perfect little powered Mary Sue who can do everything without even trying, and who is better than everyone else. It's *ridiculous*.
And taking away from Clark to make Lana even more special just hurt both her and Clark. It's like they didn't even *think*.

I agree that Lois is the best female character they have on the show. She's flawed and real and fights her way for everything she wants. It makes her believable.
