Battlestar Galactica

It has been over a week since the final episode of BSG. I've thought about the ending--what I like about it, what I didn't--but none of that really matters much to me at this point. I am left now with the feeling I have after I finish a long novel or novel series that I loved. The characters' stories go on from here, but I won't be a part of their ( Read more... )

I am waaaaay behind on BSG (will catch up, don't worry). But I know that feeling, and I hateses it. I can't get into any other novels or even tv until it passes.

There has to be a mouring period before you are ready to go on again. I will often start again at the beginning just to re-experience it for a while before I'm ready to move on. In fact, I've been thinking about re-watching the mini-series.

I absolutely know that feeling and have it with great shows and great novels. That is one reason I generally only read novels in a series, so that I can have the maximum amount of time to savor my time with characters that I grow to love.

The characters' stories go on from here, but I won't be a part of their lives anymore. There is a hole in my life that these characters filled for a time, and now it is empty. The feeling is bittersweet: I am glad to have known these people and been a part of their stories for a while, but now they are gone, and I miss them.

It is very hard, isn't it? **hugs** So many people on my flist are just going through BSG withdrawal now. I empathize, I really do know what you are going through.

This is why some of us read (and write) fan fiction, and join rewatch communities (I can bet one will start up for BSG any minute.) Fandom means never having to say good-bye to the characters you love.

But if fan fiction (or fan communities period) just isn't your cup of tea, there is this great show, with a global apocalypse, wonderful writing and acting and good and bad robots, called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I was pretty meh about it when I checked it out the first season, but when it came out on DVD, I watched it all in one week ( ... )
