Water heater update

Oh, yeah, I forgot to update on the water heater situation. It gave us a day of tripping the breaker every time we drew hot water, but since then we haven't had any more trouble with it. I still think I should call for a service technician at some point, since the owners manual says it should be serviced annually, which hasn't been done in the

I'd worry about that getting clogged up, as hard as your water is. I worked on one earlier this year that used well water. No telling how long it had been neglected--a few years, at least. It had huge chunks of calcium stuff on the bottom. It wouldn't even drain normally. I had to take out the heating element, stick a shop-vac hose through the hole where the element goes, and suck the water and mineral chunks off the bottom that way, and I still wasn't able to clean it out completely.
