Today I learned that, in the Yes song "Roundabout", mountains come out of the sky. Not marmots, like I have been hearing (and singing) for years. Mountains.

Because mountains falling out of the sky makes soooo much more sense!

Actually, I kinda like "marmosets out of the sky". It's got a Chris Moore-like surreality about it that appeals to me.

The mental picture of a bunch of groundhogs standing on their hind legs around a lake has always been a vivid image for me. Kind of like a prairie dog town that surrounds a lake.

Well, in my head it's "marmots" (groundhogs), but "marmosets" is equally odd and surreal!

Actually I misheard those lyrics for years, as well. but I thought he said that Martians come out of the sky. Because where else would Martians come from, after all? "And they stand there...."

Hey, it made sense to me, in that trippy-sounding 70s song. That was the decade of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and of my parents having the UFO sighting phone number written in their address book. lol

I'd forgotten about that entry! You know, when I read the lyrics yesterday I had a vague feeling that I had been through this before, and subsequently forgotten the correct lyrics. Maybe it was with that post that I first realized it was "mountains". But brains have habits, and mine snapped back to marmots.

Oh, and Yes makes me feel the same way ;-)
