He probably thought to himself 'I let you steal fresh dirt from me for tire traction and this is the thanks I get' :P I've had a groundhog meandering about the yard at night too recently, drives the landlord's dog nuts. Their hibernation period must have come to an end.

Yup, they are up and about now. My cats ignore them, since the groundhogs are as big as they are!
