Misery came long before music, its fueled by emotions so therefore will have songs of sadness. Think about it, do you think people weren't miserable before music came into being?

High Fidelity, great film. Just started the book...loving it. Nick hornby wrote it. I really enjoy his writing style.

The misery. I think that people tend to listen to music they can relate to.

I dont know what it is like in the states but in the uk, alot of the teens/younger people here will follow whatever is popular, This year it is emocore or similar, about 2 years back ska, before that numetal. If its cool to be "depressed" because of a social group you belong to....then the music came first? I know Im lumping alot of people into one box with my comment here, but its quite true.

are "goths" really dispressed or is it fashion? or are "goths" drawn to wearing black, reading sad poems, watching hammer horror etc because there a sad bunch? etc etc.

Thanks for commenting in my lj, fellow photography borg:-D
