A question...

I have a question about Psychedelic Izaya and Tsugaru Shizuo. Why did the fandom decide that they have different personalities than Izaya and Shizuo? Has there been an announcement or something. I just see them as Izaya and Shizuo in different clothes...

Because frankly...I can't see any version of Izaya as pure and innocent... XD

Yeah XD But I wanna know the reason behind it... if there is such a thing...Perhaps the fans needed a nicer Izaya? Hmm...

It's probably because he's dressed all in white/pink... while he usually dresses in black clothes

I think they were inspired by how cute Izaya looked on the OST cover (white and pink and all that stuff) so they thought that Psyche's personality is cute as well?

Because it is always fun to play with AU, and thanks to vocaloid, Japanese fandom suddenly was faced with the prospect of cute Izaya/calm Shizuo... it was love at second sight btw psyche!Izaya isn't as innocent as it seems I have seen him trying to provoke Izaya or scheming to not lose Tsugaru!Shizuo.
What I would like to know is... what do Psyche/Tusgaru represent mp3 player? headphones? sound? lyrics? anyone knows?

Errr not sure how much you know so ignore if you already know much of this, but Psyche and Tsugaru were illustrations on the soundtrack CD jackets that came with the special editions of DVDs 4 and 3 respectively. Also, with the Tsugaru one, there was a Shizuo cover of Tsugaru Kaikyo-Fuyugeshiki (enka song, and is where the name Tsugaru comes from). Unfortunately there isn't a Psychedelic Dreams song. They're really both just illustrations, although fandom sometimes treats them as Vocaloidy things, since they're associated with music.

Yes, I knew that... I think I saw somekind of "explanation" on what fandom thought they were, there are many fanarts in which Psyche is somekind of program and Tsugaru a device(?)
Oh well japanese fandom is funny, I am not complaining since there are so many pretty fanart to look at for this fanon couple.

Hahah, from poking around on Pixiv (TsugaSai is for some reason one of the things I'm really fascinated by) my guess is that it stemmed from someone who happened to draw Psyche as ambiguously nicer than normal Izaya, got it tagged with "Psyche-tan is really an angel" (this being the earliest illust, though it's R-18) and it became memetic. Tsugaru probably goes along the same lines for calmness, or maybe it's just hard to draw someone in traditional Japanese dress rampaging with road signs and vending machines.

According to PixPedia on "Psyche-tan is really an angel":
If the official Izaya is a demon with the face of an angel (the personification of bimokushuurei, which translates to handsomeness although "handsomeness" doesn't cover the finesse of it), the Psyches under this tag can be said to be angels with the face of a demon (same face as Izaya).i.e. Fandom found it funny/cute/amusing to reverse Izaya's personality. Psyche being pink and Tsugaru being a nice complementary blue must have had something to do with it as well. Even ( ... )
