This is so a case for stopping periods at the age of 13, or after secondary sexual characteristics form, in case it should be dangerous to do so before.

Then we can all get along with leading full professional lives which include helping the world's vulnerable children!

I'd have to agree with the other people there -- the idea of bipolar disorder being linked to menstruation doesn't make sense... Among other things, that would mean that there wouldn't be bipolar kids being raised by single fathers, or ones raised by non-menstruating (either from age or sterility like me) mothers, which sure isn't the case. :)

Also, the woman is referring to bipolar as "behaviors" rather than as the really wonky altered states of consciousness underlying the weird behavior. I think that figuring bipolar disorder is just behavioral/attachment issues is rather like figuring that autism or depression are.

I have a friend with a child that has bipolar disorder if you are interested -- doublestuff32, who is also an autistic hanging out on asperger. He might disprove the notion of bipolar disorder being linked to menstrual cycles, depending on what state the body is in. (I know he is FTM but have no idea what stage. If nothing else, he could give insight for you into what bipolar little kids are like!)
