To that list of books I posted the other day I should add "Until we have faces: a myth retold" by C.S. Lewis, it is a version of the tale of Cupid and Venus (Roman) or Eros and Psyche (Greek). It is also the inspiration for the early folk tale of Beauty and the Beast

That is a damn good book. I read it one summer and was shocked by its loveliness and despair. I actually forgot I had read it till you put it here, and with the rememberance came a new flood of head thoughts to think about while working my little fingies off.
