At long last I have resumed reading and reviewing at snapecase. As I didn't quite remember where I had stopped (the hullabaloo of these last months has pretty much reduced my brain to mush) I took it backwards, and the very first story - that is the last one of the fest - made me fall on my knees.

The story is The Lost World.

Isn't it breathtaking? I have read it three times now, each time thinking I'd be able to leave a *real* review rather than an incoherent flail, and each and every time I've read it, it just wipes me out and leaves me drowning. I, too, worship Pervy, and started a virtual shrine to her after last year's equally amazing fic. I've been putting heaps of coconut tea (points at icon), raven quills and other appeasements to her muse there ever since. Considering what she produced this year, I think I'll double it for next year. Want to join me? ::g::

P.S. Thank you for your kind words regarding my own fic - I've been meaning to go back and reply to all the comments I got, and to finish reading all of the stories myself, but I hadn't yet gotten to it. Seeing your entry made me realize that I need to kick my own bum and just do it. :-)

Oh yes, I did exactly that - read it more than once, tried to say something intelligent and ended up flailing in my comment all the same.

Pervy (hee! love the nickname) is an extraordinary writer who should be famous, celebrated and richly paid for her work. It galls to see so many authors get published who are not worth the tip of her little finger. Ah, if I could win the lottery... I'd found a publishing house.

Meanwhile I'll join you in virtual shrine-building. :) I gather she likes coconut tea? Is it the only flavour she loves?

I remember your fic quite well - the beginning, especially, was so vivid that it took my breath.
