::high fives you::

I have another e-friend whose lj has been filled with tales of woe and disgust re. Howard for years. Everything from the environment to Aboriginal issues to how he pronounces "homosexuals." I can only imagine how thrilled she must be right now :)

*high fives back*

If she's anything like a friend of mine, she'll be doing happy dances right now.

My boss' daughter at one stage wanted to do her Honours year on Australian society in the 1950's so that she could understand where Howard was coming from!

Did you watch the whole thing? God, I think I'd rather eat tacks and watch paint dry while I'm digesting than watch an election coverage. Having said that though, I've never watched an election coverage, so I've no idea how good it is!

So did you shout "QUEENSLANDER!" when Howard ceded?

There may have been a little bit of state pride :).

Heh - watched the election coverage till the ABC team gave up last night along with a bunch of other diehard Howard-haters here in Bennelong. There was much cheering :)

Unfortunately, though, the Bennelong result is not actually known yet - the media are calling it, but there's been no official victory declared. Maxine is leading, but not by enough, so it's down to postals. It may be days before we know!

On the other hand, even if he does just scrape by, there's always the prospect of a byelection in the near future...

Hrothers was happy dancing like it was 1999, let me tell you. And yes, at Turkey Day there was much cheering, too! Why weren't you there?

Funny about Bennelong. I'd heard that Howard ceded it, but the lovely Maxine wasn't willing to claim it just 'cause she's nice and it was a little close. Fingers crossed postal votes = Maxine.

Pssssst, i_a ... it's me ... yes, that me, the inept one who can't find your bloody email in her 'files'. Gillian made me write fic. This is the address where you can find it. It is wholly and entirely her and your fault, but I still love you both, and you both looked great last night.

I second your 'SQueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' and add even more squee-age because Costello has resigned, short of giving up his seat, but he will not be leader of the (now) opposition.

If there is a god, Tony Abbott won't get it either. I'd rather Wilson Tucky! Ok, ok. That's a slight exaggeration, but you get my drift!

if we're ever at another Turkey-come-Election party together, I'll sit you down and make you understand the magic of Auntie's election coverage!

it's strangely easy to get sucked in... the god-like creature that is Antony Green helps a lot. Antony Green is never wrong ;) I wait for his senate breakdown CGI to come up and then I KNOW he's going to call the shots.

also, watching the tally roomers behind Kerry waving giant heads of Rudd with the eyes cut out, floating spookily at his left shoulder... high-larious. it looked suspiciously like he was moving to one side to make sure they were in view ;)
