Involves curves, selective coloring and smart sharpen tool
Not translatable

Start with the base but don't alter it. Mine is from a new released still of Dean Winchester (credit to wonderful
ckll). I usually sharpen and resize the picture in the end.

Step 1: Curves:
RGB: Input: 94, Output: 168
RED: Input: 99, Output: 187
GREEN: Input: 128, Output: 134
BLUE: Input: 150, Output: 94

Looks OK but I'm aiming for more yellowish coloring and this is too pink so I added another curves layer

Step 2: Curves:
GREEN: Input: 126, Output: 140
BLUE: Input: 143, Output: 124

Better. But after all those curves layers it's a bit faded and needs a more contrast.

Step 3: Selective Color:
REDS: -34, 0, 0, 0
BLACKS: -2, 47, 100, 14

Step 4: Fill with dark brown #200A01 and set to Exclusion, opacity: 100%

Step 5: Duplicate your base, set it to top and set to Overlay, opacity 15%

Step 5: Merge all layers. Go to Filter -> Sharpen -> Smart sharpen and use following settings:
Amount: 13%
Radius 6,6 px
Remove: Lens blur
More accurate is checked

I recommend to use smart sharpen instead of sharpen. If you set smart sharpen like I did and use it in future on any picture, it would definatly look better than regular sharpen tool.

Resize and play with the blur or sharpen tool:

You can stop here or go one more step:

Step 6: Brightness/Contrast:
Brightness: 0, Contrast: 20

And the result:

UPDATE (May 29th, 2008)
in Step 5:
change the duplicated base (set to top) from Overlay 15% to Soft light 75%. Example:

or

in Step 5:
change the opacity of the Overlay layer from 15% to 75-80%. Example:

Hope this comes in handy :)
