The most frustrating thing about the truly mentally ill is that they think the problem is not with them, but with the rest of the world. I'm pretty much convinced now that that is how you can tell whether or not you are crazy. Do you think something is wrong with you, or do you think something is wrong with the other 6,706,993,152 some-odd people ( Read more... )

the only thing i might amend is to say the "severely" mentally ill, since i and plenty of people i know have disorders of some sort (i am pretty much textbook anxiety disorder AND panic disorder). however, i think the distinguishing factors are the recognition that there is a problem and the cabability of reason and rational thought. all people have irrational moments. the reaaly crazy people have irrational lives.

Yeah, I think almost everyone could probably be diagnosed with some kind of personality disorder. I'm definitely OCPD, and I probably fall somewhere on an anxiety disorder spectrum.
