Just because she cried doesn't mean you're a terrible human being. Some people are honest and others don't like to hear it. You can't please everyone and it didn't sound like you had a lot to lose from her friendship so shrug it off and keep moving forward.
Well, she also said that she talks to me more than any other human being, including her family (which seems unlikely, considering the part where she lives with a former colleague) and lamented that her words and actions are "never enough" for me. She said that she strains to spend any time at all with me and alleges that I think she isn't "worthy" of my friendship. She also wanted me to define "friend" and why she isn't one.
It was an upsetting discussion and I didn't get to adequately explain because she started crying and wanted to be left alone. (So now I feel like it's not worth discussing because my attempts to explain were harmful to her.)
We were very close. But there's a point when we never see each other, I am always "wrong," and I'm not getting anything out of trying anymore.
