Title: NEWS VS KAT-TUN
Starring: NEWS, KAT-TUN
Summary: Shounnen club, now proudly presents it's newest segment, in which two of the biggest idol groups of the country shall face each other in the biggest battle to see who shall reign supreme.

Authors Note: This is the first time I've ever really written a multi-chaptered crack-fic. I'm not even sure it's really allowed, but I'm doing it anyway.

Disclaimer: I don't own anyone, if I did, this would not be fiction, It would totally happen!

Prologue

“In short, both groups have been chosen to participate in the ongoing series of events on Shounnen club,” the middle-aged producer explained, as he busily mopped up the sweat that was coursing down his forehead.

The room was completely silent, even Koki had stopped the incessant tapping of his foot that had slowly been driving Jin and Ryo crazy.

“Let me get this straight,” Jin began, “You mean to say, that you’re going to have a ‘NEWS VS KAT-TUN’ segment every week on Shounnen club?”

The producer nodded slowly, he was bit nervous about the reception, it had taken him weeks to fully develop the idea.

After looking through all the data the company had gathered, in trying to create a new segment for the show that would appeal to the general audience.

“That, doesn’t sound that entertaining,” Ryo said, “I mean what would come out of these ‘arguments’ we pretend to have?”

Jin nodded, “besides, it’s not like anyone would really believe any of it, anyway.”

“True, the only believable argument we’ve had aired, was the one that was true,” Koki added, making Ueda squirm uncomfortably in his seat, while Ryo merely rolled his eyes, he was way past the entire incident.

“Well, maybe we could try having actual arguments,” Tegoshi suggested.

“Don’t be stupid Tego, we don’t actually argue,” Nakamaru said, silencing the smaller man.

“We could,” Tegoshi replied, with a pout.

“Really, about what?” Kamenashi asked.

“We could just use this to find out who’s stronger,” Masuda interjected.

All eyes fell on the baby-faced young man, KAT-TUN looking rather intrigued, while the other members of NEWS were throwing him rather exasperated looks, except that is Ryo.

Ryo had a slight glint in his eye, “You know, that’s not such a bad idea,” he said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

“Ryo,” Yamapi warned, but Ryo paid him no heed.

“I mean, we could do battle of strength, character, nerve, hosting?” Ryo continued.

“Hosting?” Kamenashi asked.

“Yeah, and dancing,” Masuda added.

“That doesn’t sound all that ‘fun’,” Ueda commented, sullenly.

“Just because you’re afraid you’ll lose?” Ryo stated, rather than asked.

“Ryo!” Yamapi said, again, this time an aggravated tone to his voice.

Ueda seemed unfazed, as he leaned forward slightly, “of losing to you? Not likely,” he glanced behind Ryo, at Shige who had been eerily quiet throughout the whole meeting. “Although I might be if I were going against Shige rather than you.”

That just about did it for Ryo, as he ground his teeth, ready to take on the boxer at that very moment if necessary. How dare he belittle him? And then go and flatly compare him to Shige?

“Tat-chan,” Taguchi squeaked, pulling on the other man’s shoulder.

The producer watched the scene unfold before him, thinking maybe it wasn’t that great an idea as he had originally thought. But then again, a stare down between the two good-looking men, may just boost the ratings of the show through the roof.

“So is that a yes?” he asked tentatively.

Both Ueda and Ryo turned towards the producer, who took a slight step back, surprised at the intensity in their eyes.

“Yes,” they said simply, before anybody else could say anything more.

The producer let out a small sigh, that was one battle down, now the next one would be making sure the two groups didn’t kill each other during the duration of the segment. And considering what some of the activities would include, he cringed inwardly thinking what kind of management they would have to have in that.

At least insurance covered the hospital bills that might come up.

“Are you crazy?” Yamapi cried, once the group had left the Jumishio and were safely seated in one of their favorite restaurants.

“Of, course not!” Ryo replied, annoyed. “I don’t see what the big deal is anyway, I mean there’s no way we’ll lose.”

“That’s right,” Tegoshi said, “I don’t know about the rest of you, but when we start this, I’m going for the win.”

Yamapi let out an exhausted sigh, of course for Tegoshi all that would matter was winning this so called competition. Now Yamapi had no qualms about winning, what he was worried about was how far this ‘game’ would escalate. The small interchange between Ryo and Ueda was already enough to set both him and Koyama into worrying fits.

However while this was happening, a quick glance at his best friend, Yamapi could already see he would end up alone in trying to stifle the groups animosity towards one another in the coming weeks.

The idea was already beginning to give him a headache. Koyama placed a comforting hand on the leaders back, “don’t worry, we’ll watch out for them.”

“Somehow, that doesn’t give as much comfort as it should,” Yamapi mumbled, making Shige laugh on his other side, while Koyama pouted.

“Yes, we’re in it to win it!” Masuda announced, as he happily dug into his tempura.

“We’ll win hands down,” Ryo said, “that is if we all keep our heads in the game,” and suddenly all eyes seemed to set on Shige.

He glanced up at them, his chopsticks with rice half way to his mouth, before he put it down. “What are you looking at me for? I’m going to do the trivia part!”

“Oh, right,” Tegoshi said nodding, “we’ll definitely win then.”

“Let’s not be too hasty or anything,” Shige said. Ryo sent him a glare.

“What? I’m being serious, don’t get so into it, I mean we don’t want to actually end up fighting with them do we?”

“Why not?” Masuda asked, “I mean we’d win.”

Tegoshi nodded, “Yeah, we’re strong men! We’ll beat them so hard they won’t know what hit them!”

Yamapi, Shige, and Koyama’s heads in unison fell to the table with a thud, moaning “Why?” together.

“Get up, and eat, you’re going to need your energy!” Ryo ordered, as he dug into his own food.

“A group challenge?” Jin asked, sourly.

“That’s what they said, but it’s a bunch of mini-activities, little crap like what we did when we were Juniors,” Kamenashi explained.

“Don’t tell me, it’s going to be like that confession stuff we had to do for Valentines day,” Nakamaru said, cringing as he said it.

“Probably, but they didn’t say what exactly, it’s supposed to be a surprise,” Kamenashi explained. “But they gave me this,” he said pulling a few folders from his bag, he handed them out to the other members.

Taguchi skimmed through the contents of his folder, “hang on,” he said, as his eye caught an interesting piece of information. “all the events are going to be through lottery?”

“Seems that way,” Jin replied, as he flipped through his folder.

“And the person we face is going to be through lottery too,” Ueda commented.

“So that means we probably don’t have to worry about you and Nishikido-kun,” Kamenashi said, letting out a relieved sigh.

“That’s not necessarily true, even if they aren’t facing each other in physical challenges, the might have a go in some romanticism event,” Jin reasoned.

Kamenashi gave his friend a rather narrowed look, “you are really helpful in calming my nerves.”

“We don’t need to worry about any of this, NEWS is probably sweating about this a lot more, I mean Tomo-chan looked ready to pull Ryo’s ear to get him to behave when we were in the conference earlier, and Koyama looked a little too worried about Ryo,” Jin said.

“Well considering how well Ueda and Ryo get along, I’m not surprised,” Koki said, “if I didn’t know Ueda was over the whole thing I’d be worried too.”

Kamenashi threw a quick glance at Ueda who was biting his lower lip, muttering something along the lines of breaking someone’s spine, “I think you should worry,” he said.

Ueda seemed unaware of the stares he was getting from his band mates, as he continued to list the ways to best render a person unconscious.

Jin cleared his throat, “Maybe we should worry…just a bit.”
