Ganymede has a feeling Cyrano may have guessed at a certain secret, which came as a rather unsettling surprise. So, he has found a spare room in the mansion with a great, tall mirror, and is regarding himself rather critically in it. It is certainly an odd scenario in which to find a shepherd boy, but perhaps it is only that he is finally reaching ( Read more... )

... and girl number 3 to freak Preteen!Steerpike, thank you. Well. Sort of. Maybe he won't be freaked out, since he doesn't know, and is very unlikely to find out, unless Rosalind slips out grossly.

He finds himself staring at the other boy, and frowns. "What are you doing?" Flatly.

This is just wrong.

He jumps and whirls around. "Naught," he says at once. "What of thee?"

"Looking for food," he shrugs. "And haven't seen any other boys, here, only girls, so I'm glad to see you."

He grins, wide.

"I'm Sylvio." Still lying about his name - that evil and scary Swelter will NOT find him, he decided.

Bromios likes shepherd boys, easily distracted shepherd boys on the hillsides who will leave their flocks for a snatch of tune--but he also likes ladies who run mad in the forest, and he likes best of all people who are both at once. His own young face is androgynous, sweet girlish mouth and eyelashes, hard boyish jaw, soft tumbles of dark hair curling at his cheeks. "You're a very pretty boy," he says, from the doorway.

Then the god will enter, sitting at Ganymede's feet in a chiton (not the fawnskin loincloth of celebration, for this is not his day of feasting and madness). "My father once loved a boy as pretty," he offers, smiling up. "He carried him away, and now the boy bears my father's cup."

"Ay," he says, blushing a little. "I am called for him." A pause. "--your father?"

It may be an odd scenario in which to find a shepherd boy, but perhaps a little less so to someone who often engaged in similar oddity as a pageboy.

"Good day," says Viola.

He jumps and turns quickly around.

"I meant not to startle you, sir," she says, apologetic -- but with the eerie sense of familiarity sinking in, the word "sir" comes with a question mark.

Typist: . . . hi, I have been failing at the internets. Have a late! tag.

"It is no matter," he says, smiling easily.
