I still haven't seen Advent Children. I've heard it makes no sense. I'm not really sure what the point of making a FF7 movie was unless to clear up the very confusing/illogical story of the game and tie up loose ends. Which... it doesn't sound like that happened. o_O
(Closest I have to FF icons is Kingdom Hearts. At least those games make slightly more sense.)
Well, the point of it was... the aforementioned vast piles of cash still waiting to be extracted from fanatical FFVII fans, yeah.
But it does about as well as it can, I think. I know I'm just one of many fans being milked by the company, but I like the movie.
I didn't really find the story of the game that confusing - there are some leaps of faith you have to take with certain plot points, but the story makes sense. The film is really just an extended coda to the game. Everyone shows up again for about five seconds, and *spoiler* *spoiler* *spoiler*
