GOD I LOVE THIS EPISODE. Though I have always watched it either alone or with other crazy Samgirls, and gone crazy over Sam in it, so I am - interested? to see the things you pick up on and focus on! Like, I always thought this was such such SUCH a Sam episode; he is so PRETTY and BATSHIT INSANE and HEARTBROKEN and FUCKED UP and oh my GOD I LOVE HIM.

ALSO, adorable is totally the right word - for such a dark and important episode with a really quite disturbing concept, and profound effect on Sam, they both pull out the freaking amazingly adorable guns RATHER A LOT. Their faaaaces.

I think it shows a lot of them both. Dean's reactions to Sam's anxiety over all the deaths is really interesting when you focus on them. But yes, Sam is still insane and heartbroken and fucked up.

Did you notice that Dean has like, at least an inch and a half heels on in those boots. N'awwww...shorty

I noticed that awhile ago and gleeeeeed. That is the only word I can think of that can encapsulate the noise I made when I saw that. Poor Jensen has to wear high heels to fit in the frame with Jared!

HAHAHHAAH I totally noticed how big they looked there.

Someone recently posted that they're convinced that Jared is really like 6'8" and Jensen barely 6". This is all exaggerated, but they were posting caps of them side by side and it did look like more than just 'three inches.'

There is NO WAY that is a three inch difference. I don't know which of them is lying (maybe they both are), but it is just not possible that there is only a three inch height difference.

Lovely!
That mid hug shot - the one with Dean opening his eyes and looking worried/surprised - had me immediately thinking of that old Benny Hill line: "What's this thing called, love?" And I'm not a wincester!

Always in my top five eps, this one. I have no probs with the Trickster knowing about Dean - he's a god, he could know anything he wants. Also, he knows people's dirty little secrets, so I am presuming mind reading at least is one of the weapons at his disposal.

As for why he'd do it - he says fun. I also think he has both a highly skewed morality and a bit of a soft spot for these two, He may seriously have been thinking he was doing Sam some kind of favour.

That hug, period, kills me. That and the one in Lazarus Rising when Sam and Dean reunite. I love my boys hugging so fiercely. YUM.

I guess the Trickster thinks it's funny, but it still seems odd that he'd give the big speech about it. I think I'd be okay if he just played it off like 'you'll never save him nya nya nya nya.' But he doesn't. Though I do realize we need the heady speech to get the point and for Sam to get the point.

I've always thought that maybe the Trickster is just more concerned about everything than he lets on. Like, I'm sure he was aware of Lilith roaming around at the time, and maybe that there was something bigger coming, and maybe he wanted Sam to just get over losing Dean so he could fight it? Because maybe the Trickster is like, "Aw, damn, if Lilith kills everyone and demons take over, I won't have any humans to fuck with anymore."

Just a thought. XD

It seems plausible. I'm not 100% sold on it, but very possible :-D

Oh SAMMY is never a bad reaction. Ever. :-D

I'd never thought of it that way, really. But I can kind of see this Sammy being like S4's, just hiding a whole heck of a lot.

when people were getting all 'Sam is out of character' in s4 I was surprised, because really, the Sam we saw in Mystery Spot WAS s4 Sam in a lot of ways.

Holy crap, THANK YOU. People bugged me so bad with that crap. I mean, he'd be a different Sam anyway, with Dean in HELL and with all the crap he's been through. But this episode made the changes in him SO FREAKIN' OBVIOUS and expected. Wtf, people? lol

Yeah, but I don't think anyone expected the demon blood or for him to hide a lot from Dean. Not like I have issue with it, but just sayin' :-D

GOD! I voted for Mystery Spot, but see what happened. Now you've got me crying! *sniff*
Sam's slow descent into craziness here is just heartbreaking.

But before the bad parts come Dean IS fucking adorable! And his death scenes are made of win. Even though a good part of them strike me as hilarious, they always startle me (no matter how often I watched the episode), because they come so unexpectedly.

Hahah oh bb, don't cry. It'll all be okay. Promises!

Those deaths really are hysterical but very startling, yes. I sometimes forget when they come or how quickly, even after seeing this ep so often.
