Jensen clenched his eyes shut and slumped against the hi-top table he and Danneel had taken as residence throughout the party. He ran a hand over his face and dug his thumb and forefinger into his eyes, praying that this was all some horrible dream. It was incredibly lucid, but one could always hope.

A hand wrapped around Jensen’s wrist and tugged, but Jensen refused to move. “No, Danni, you’re only going to take this from bad to worse.”

“I really hope it’s not that bad,” Jared replied instead.

Jensen opened his eyes to find one Dr. Jared Padalecki, dog-whisperer extraordinaire, charming Southern man with the widest dimples Jensen ever did see, staring right back at him.

Standing, Jensen brushed at the edges of his tuxedo jacket and put on his firmest voice to try to alleviate the situation. “I’m really sorry. Danneel is quite the excitable type, gets all wrapped up in just throwing her money around.”

“She didn’t just buy me for you?” he asked, sounding about as awkward as Jensen certainly felt.
