Fic and Art: Prompt 35

Dec 01, 2011 12:35

Title: Remember/Forget
Author: kerplankia
Prompt: 35. It all comes down to the Dementor attack, doesn't it? That's what changes Dudley. I'd like to see an internal monologue, a stream-of-consciousness maybe, about how it felt, what he saw, what he realised and how it changed him, his new perspective and what he intends to do with it.

Excellent work! You are really spot on with Dudley's internal monologue. I was particularly touched that Dudley's greatest fear was that his parents would treat him like they do Harry.

Thanks! I was a bit worried about writing Dudley as I have never written him before.

When Harry lived a life in a cupboard so that Dudley did not have to.

You have got me thinking on what would happen if Dudley DID have to live in the cupboard instead of Harry!

Fantastic job, this really got me thinking.

Ooh well if you get a plot bunny (as you seem to be good at collecting those :), I would love it if you would send me a link! Thanks!

This is absolutely lovely. The prose and the situations are so precise and exact that it's almost like poetry. The pictures are simple and perfect, too. I love lost canon moments and this really fills in Dudley's thinking about Harry between the Dementor attack and the next summer, his change in attitude from that of a bully to gratitude. You have some lovely phrases in here. Wonderful.

There are a ton of nice little moments in here; it is really made in the details. The sour smell is such a visceral way to describe the fear, something that clings to everything he comes across. Everything here just feels so cloying, especially the line "every breath is just a pause before he vomits ( ... )

I have always thought that Vernon acts the way he does because of fear; fear of the unknown, fear of the different. I am glad that this came across!

Thanks.
