As she strides by an alley in her precise, mechanical march, she pauses as a squeak interrupts her thoughts.
Damn sensory data. Every unfamiliar sound is thrust right into the front of her thoughts. She turns to see a hand lying in the dust.
Possibly dead. If so, it may have weapons. She should go check, but quickly -- someone else may think she killed the insect. Humans are paranoid like that.
Kneeling beside the fallen girl, SHODAN pulls her into the light and gives her a once-over.

She knelt, an awkward and jerky motion as she tried to keep her center of gravity over her feet. Human bodies...
Ahiru was carrying no weapons. Nothing valuable except possibly money, and taking a little money wasn't worth the price of being caught. On the other hand, help humans, and they help you...that was the lesson she had always learned in the past. They were easily manipulated by what they perceived to be altruism. So, best to put on a nice face and do something to earn some trust here.]
