I have been thinking about the phrase “everyone says” and it occurs to me that this is a basic part of our worlds. We like it when we are in agreement with our friends. Seeing clearly is the issue, and because you don't agree with them, doesn't make them wrong. If there is anything I have learned in our little group is that there is no such thing as "THE TRUTH", just an interconnected lattice work of truths. The problem I see that when someones' truth doesn't match our own, our natural reaction is to assume it is personal, and that is it own little catch.

The issue is that I know both the anonymous someone, the named "Person" as well a disinterested third party present at the event and as I pointed out to the speaker, only one of them remembers it that way. The speaker is well-intentioned and generally an honest guy but he made himself part of the Everyone who Says without bothering to verify.
