I just woke up to a rather pleasant surprise.  The last pending piece to make a go/no-go decision for BM clicked into placed while I was sleeping.  I'm now officially going; zero to going in less than 24 hours.  A couple of small details aside, the major hurdles are crossed so the next few hours will be figuring out the rest of the bits (like

I (sadly) won't have time to make my fire cannon for this year, but i've got the plans all drawn up. I'll probably have to get a special permit/space for it, because it makes a 400' tall flaming mushroom cloud (I know this, because it's based on a device that already exists). =D

I'm not building for this year. Don't have the time/resources. But next year fire will be incorporated into a project, as opposed to being the central feature of the project itself. If you're aiming for that kind of thing though, you should check out the technology behind Sim Nuke.

and yes, i'd heard that too and wasn't sure about that myself. but it turns out what happens is that tickets are no longer sold at the gate after 11pm on thurs. however, there are greeters there throughout, the gates are still manned, and you're fine if you pre-purchased.
