Uncle Walt

Today is the anniversary of the death of Walt Whitman, 3/26/1892... Ole' Walt was a poet and journalist, a very controversial figure of his time. I have done a few services for UU Churches about gay rights and I always try to include one of my favorite poems

What a beautiful piece. I should read more poetry. It's just hard for me to get through the emotions of it sometimes. I can place myself in this poem and almost feel my lover sleeping peacefully on my chest. It fills me with a sense of contentment, but also with a sense of longing, for right now, I am at work, and my lover lies alone...
