Sounds like a successful Pennsic! Only one lost child over 10 days is good going.

Glad to hear the Skraeling Althing bitches are still in fine form. Is Suzanna still serving tea at 4pm?

When you say James was elevated, do you mean James the Mercer? How lovely! (can't find any details on the Ealdormerian website, bother).

Robert and I are hoping to attend next year. If we go, and you have kids' equipment, we could work on her archery - and yours, if you like.

There should have been no lost children. I was scared. After 5 minutes, I realized that she hadn't just wandered off bored. I was thinking abduction or that she had drown in the lake.

I don't know about tea. I told Suzanna about the incident and she was proud of me.

Yes, James the Mercer is a pelican. He was put on notice at the start of Pennsic and elevated during Ealdormere court on the Thursday. Roz knew in advance and made him new Persian clothes. James had an inkling because he had made his own pelican cloak. He'd been working on it for years. I personally would never feel confident enough that elevation was imminent to start working on my own laurel cloak, but it worked out for him.

We have a 15 pound bow with no string. Piers bought it on ebay a few years back with the intention of one day using it with the kids. If we can go without our Pumpkin next year, we will do archery. Trading one child back and forth will make it far less draining.

Are you thinking of camping with Skrael?

I'm glad you had a good time and managed the child wrangling with as well as you did. I don't think Pennsic with children is ever *easy*, but it seems that you managed with the best grace possible.

I wouldn't call that bitchy...I would call that perfectly within your rights.

They were on the road, blocking the road. Someone tripped into our tent trying to avoid them. Someone told me later that they probably went away because if I'd called security they would have told them to get off of the road.

Again...not bitchy...perfectly within your rights. You paid for Pennsic too...you shouldn't have to have a terrible time.

A pop-up pirate ship and freezies???? That is so totally awesome!

And no wonder you're complaining about 'not losing weight'. Good lord, woman. You danced your booty off. See? Muscle *does* weigh more than fat! (wouldn't you rather weigh more, and be able to wear smaller clothes and have an awesome tummy??? I so would)

You're convincing me to come next year. Can we camp with you?

The captain was wonderful. A lot of the people who go to Pennsic as pirates are the partiers. The pirate looks they do are post 1600, when they aren't just complete fabrications, which makes you wonder why they are in the SCA. Pennsic is mostly about getting drunk and laid for them. The captain was an exception to the stereotype. He kept freezies to give out to kids. He and his wife were in their 50's and seemed to be really nice people.

You most likely could camp with Skrael. We camp beside 1 of only 2 indoor bathrooms in Pennsic. We want to go back, if we can find people to take Avalon. My parents will take her for some of the week, but not the whole time. If you camped with us, we could even take turns watching the girls. I bet they'd get along. She would love the water battle and maybe the theatre. You would love the harp exhibition. I want to be able to play something next year, although I'll have to borrow one since I'm not bringing mine. (Lack of room and too hard to look after.)
