I skipped Hare, but went to the post-rev. It was the first post-rev I've been to in 8 years of SCA life. (Hare is my anniversary event - Hare 1999

It was great getting the opportunity to chat with you and Tsivia too. I rarely go to post-rev's anymore but I was pleasantly awake and enjoyed my time there. I wish that I didn't have to leave as early as I did however the cats were happy that I did. It took a while to get them settled and happy again. I got to sleep around 2.
I was a bit concerned that my passion for embroidery was overwhelmingly obsessive. I was concerned about putting you off so I am glad that it didn't have that effect.
It was fabulous. I have heard negative things about post revs, usually that someone got drunk and make an ass out of themselves. There appears to be one person at each post rev so there was always something to gossip/complain about. As far as I could see, that didn't happen this time.
Your information was great. I just wish I'd known some of this stuff before I got 80% complete. This is the problem with being almost entirely self-taught - there are so many little tricks and techniques that I'm missing.
I know where you speak from. I have learned a lot from the people in the embroidery guild and taking workshops with them about little tips and tricks in embroidery. I am thinking of maybe making that into my practicum class. Tips and tricks in embroidery. Shortcuts for the self-taught or something like that.
Hello! I am also preparing entries for the pentathlon, and I'm desperately seeking transportation to Petrea Thule as there was a misunderstanding about my original arrangements. Is there room in your vehicle for one more? I would be happy to contribute to fuel costs.
Yes, with a big but ...dubheaseNovember 13 2007, 15:45:43 UTC
There would be room in the backseat as currently only Shyska's harp is there.
The caveats are that I am daytripping the event. Shyska already has dibbs on the front seat. We are supposed to be staying for feast, so I'm not sure exactly what time we'll be getting home in the evening.
The biggest caveat is that I have to be on site by 10AM at the latest. This means that I'm leaving at 7AM. I've already told Shyska that she has to sleep at my place Friday night. I am not remotely a morning person and getting up at 6 and getting ready to be on the road by 7 at the latest will be all I can do. I cannot go and pick people up at their house in the morning. If you can either get dropped off by 6:50 or crash here Friday night then I'd be happy to take you. Sorry, but I know my limits.

Thank you thank you thank you!
This is a big lifesaver. My family has agreed to drop me off at your door at 6:30 on Saturday morning. I have to have my stuff set up by the 10AM deadline as well so I understand the importance for promptness. Can you email me at alaisdepoitiers@hotmail.com with your street address so I can find directions in advance?
I won't need a ride back - I have crash space with a friend so I will take the bus back home on Sunday morning.
How big is your stuff? I don't want you to be squashed, but this could work out well for all of us.
(Depending how far forward the front seat goes (or how big the truck is and how full), my harp and it's paraphernalia usually take up at least one back seat.)
The documentation is pissing me off. In 3 cases, my projects were based on courses I took or a conversation I had. That's the kind of perosn I am. I don't want to have to go to specialized libraries to find the books that I'm interested in. (No library I've been to actually has the books I'd need.) I like courses and I get inspired hearing people talk.
Everyone is telling me "Don't put that you took a course with Tempus or Gerald and Robert. Make up some documentation." It's annoying trying to retrofit documentation and I feel like a fraud because it isn't what happened. I'd just rather say, "This was my first project so I thought I'd try what this expert recommended." Yes, years from now when I'm doing my umpteenth project in the area, I'll do more research and problem use more period techniques, but this is what I could do now.
I agree about the sources. If I have to go to the University or order it on interlibrary loan, it's out for now. I just don't have the time and energy to devote to chasing down something that may or may not prove useful to what I'm doing because it may be the Best source around

Good luck with the documentation.
