This year I planted Purple Haze carrots in the garden again. I loved them the first time I planted them three years ago, but I couldn't get myself to order just the carrot seeds the second year, when the shipping was more than the seeds. Yes, they're so fun! And I think they lean toward the sweeter side, at least compared to the other orange varieties I've chosen. Though that could still be my imagination. ;D

It's not the purple soup, it's the contrast with the yellowy-green oil at the edges.

Aw, who'm I kidding, I'd eat that right up.

Heeee, yeah, somethin' about the purple makes the fat look less yellow and more green. But I promise after the first bite, you'd be more fascinated than put off. ;D

That's cool! It's interesting how it turned the soup purple then reverted back to an orangeish color.

Yeah, you can just barely tell where the purple was in the carrots once they've been cooked in soup. If you cook them with a drier method, like sauteing them, they stay very purple, though they tend to stain any other light vegetables around them. ;D

They're such a blast to have in the garden! I've almost grabbed the rainbow chard a couple of times, but I keep defaulting to the red, heh. But the rainbow pictures always look so pretty!
