Mmmmmmmm. This strawberry-rhubarb crisp that I am was eating still warm from the oven is was so so good. See, that's how fast I ate it. And because I'm being good, I'm just going to eat that one bowl. Which means if more people were over here that liked that kind of thing, I could totally share it. ::polishes baking halo::

I swear other people's LJ posts about food are what motivates me to make anything most of the time, hee. ;}

Mmm... Rhubarb... That reminds me. I have some to harvest in my garden and I can totally make a rhubarb pie this weekend! :D

And I, for one, can't wait to see your latest Pink/Starbuck vid. *bounce*

It's such an easy plant to forget about until it's all dried out--so yay pie! :D

And I'm flattered you're looking forward to the vid. Also worried, but, hee, mostly flattered. ;)

Bwah, I think my awesomeness is pretty bounded, but yes, I did post! Once a month is still better than nonce a month! ;D

I have to force myself to post as well. I have 6 posts that are 80% done on my desktop and instead of finishing them I hit refresh on my f-list a billion times. :P

Some artists have their blue period, you have your pink period... I wonder if your fanlore page has a section on that yet? 0_o *goes to check*

Oh god yes. I actually whined out loud to the empty room the other day about how my flist was totally failing in their job to entertain me and keep me from being productive. Life is haaard.

Heeee, I've already considered how if I got a bunch of them done, I could make a DVD of just Pink vids and have more catchy possible DVD titles to pick from than I'd know what to do with. ;D

Greg wants to make cheese! But I oculdn't find any recipes for a smallish amount of raw milk on the internets, they were all for large amounts of goat milk or pasteurized milk. :( Did you find your recipes out there somewhere?

Oh well, he doesn't really have the guts anyway!

The goat milk recipe I used calls for a half-gallon? The mozzarella ones call for at least 2 gallons, but I think mostly because it takes a lot of milk to make a relatively small amount of cheese. Two gallons will make around 12 oz. of mozz. But you can take the whey and get some ricotta out of that too.

The half gallon goat milk recipe makes something like 8-10 oz of chevre though, which seems like a better return. I didn't weigh it, just eyeballing a guess based on the goat cheese we've bought before.

Here's the chevre recipe I used this time, and here's
another variation
. A half-gallon is probably the smallest amount of milk you're going to find called for though ( ... )

Oh, I totally added wrong for the mozzarella made from 2 gallons. It's more like twice that. Also! I did find recipes for mozz with one gallon of milk, like this one:

http://www.cheesemaking.com/store/pg/123.html

They also have instructions for using a microwave, but I don't use one anymore, so I did the hot water. My first mozz attempt "cooked" too long and got too cultured/acidic, but was also more complicated. It wouldn't melt so I could stretch it. So I tried the link above with a gallon of pasteurized milk. It worked, but just barely. My rennet probably should have sat in the milk for an hour rather than a few minutes.

Anyway, just wanted to pass it on in case Greg gets bored. ;D

That is all so cool - I've always thought it would be neat to make cheese.

I hope the weather improves soon. The plants here have started coming up and stuff, but the weather's been punishing them ever since. Poor plants.

LOL If they're anything like a certain animal I know, I'll bet they expect the weather to have changed since the last time they asked you (i.e. five minutes prior)?

The whole idea of starting with milk and turning it into things just fascinates me. Plus I love cheese, hee.

And no kidding to the weather. The sun pokes it's face out just enough to trick me into getting out of bed lately, and then the cold and rain come back before I can do anything.

Bwah. Yes, I think maybe the cats and that other certain animal studied at the same school of How About Now?
