Bedroom Picspam: The Before Edition

Jan 26, 2009 01:21

Fair warning: there a ton of pictures in here and they're mostly very boring. Partially because our room was very boring when we bought the house, and partially because the room is very small and hard to take pictures of. But I decided I'd put up some of what I had for anyone like me who goes a little crazy binging on vintage-house home- ( Read more... )

The kitties are wonderful at reminding us to take breaks, but they have a much harder time with, "No! You can't come in here it's bad for you!" And Lily can cry to break your heart when she thinks you've somehow forgotten to let her follow along.

Hopefully I'll get the other set up faster, hee.

Hee, well I definitely have a few more! And I have plenty of pics already from tearing apart and reworking Gerry's study room. That one should be even more fun to show when it's done--we made lots of new holes in the walls. ;D

Wow! I had to scroll back up to see the 'beginning' pics...it didn't even look like the same house! You gotta wonder what people are thinking starting out with such a beautiful house and covering over *everything*! Like getting a vintage painting and saying 'I'll paint something over top of this and see how it turns out'. I know your little house feels better now. It looks wonderful. *saves to memories in case I get the nerve to leave the cracker box I'm living in.* ;)
(I love the shape of the room! And the warm wood color. You leaving it 'honey' or going for the darker 'cherry' like the back of the door on the last pic?)Sorry...I *love* old houses.

Hee, I sure hope it looks a little different. ;D I have no idea what people were thinking. I guess the old pretty stuff was either normal and boring or "outdated". Hard to imagine, heh.

We went dark dark dark with the wood work with a reddish undertone--so yes, like the door. Dark stuff makes me think of old houses in general and our main floor is honey colored oak, so we wanted something different for the pine. :)

And don't be sorry! I love them too, and I always get a kick out of seeing what people do with theirs'. :D

Bwah. Yeah, the choice to do it is nice--dreaming what to do is easily my favorite part. Coming up with the energy to do it, eh... ;)

Holy crap you had a lot of work to do! You are WAY braver than me! To think someone covered up those gorgeous wood floors with that crap! And the kitties were cute too (there is no Dana only Zool) and *facepalm* I think I actually had those same pink and white curtains at one time.... we have wood blinds now lOL.

Yeah, even with the floors not being in perfect shape, they still look soooo much prettier than that carpet. :P The kitties were great help, hee--though it took them several days to figure out where we were disappearing to at night once we finally moved back up there. The four years we had that torn apart was most of Lily's life!

And hee, trust me, those were the best curtains that got left in this house. If you had to have some, those are the ones to have. ;D
