Weird cultural relativity question...

In the last few weeks of watching Lucha de Vuelta on my local Spanish-language station, I've seen a very strange turn of events, and I'm wondering if it's as culturally unique as it seems to be. Not that I can think of. Some author did a rewrite of "Dracula" to make Vlad the hero and Van Helsing And Company the monsters, but I don't think that counts. (I want to say it was Fred Saberhagen, but all I'm prepared to be quoted on is that it's an author my brother likes more than I do ... and that doesn't narrow the list down much.)
