This chapter has me very nervous for Peter and for Donna. I think the Doctor might CAUSE one of the dark futures the way he's heading. Here's hoping Peter runs into someone else from the Doctor's past who'll look out for Donna instead of the Doctor... say, Martha? (I suspect dear Sarah Jane's dead, although Luke could make an appearance.)

Am hoping Wilf sees Donna and Peter together, and realizes that she's finally happy again. And so he has to step in to help stop the Doctor.

*sighs* I may unleash one of my angrier-at-the-Doctor fics soon. Wrote a few for the Story a Day challenge I tried this year. Just have to edit them.

Anyway, glad to see you posted.

Thanks for the kind words. Things at work finally settled down and this popped, nearly fully formed, into my head as sort of a celebration, I think. Honestly, the Doctor wasn't going to make much of an appearance, initially, but he's been demanding more of a role lately. I'm not sure I write him convincingly, but one does the best one can, I suppose...

As for Wilf stepping in and standing up for Peter/Donna? Well, maybe Minnie will have something to say about that. I haven't quite worked that part out yet. The overall outline is done, and the ending and major chunks of the rest have already been written, but I have to fill in the details and make sure I haven't left anything hanging in the end.

Insomnia strikes again, so I'm off to start the next part of the story. Thanks for the comments- it makes me keep writing, knowing that someone else wants to know what happens to my OTP.

Hmm.... I agree that the Doctor may end up causing more problems than solving them if he goes off all hotheaded. He needs to analyse the situation with extreme care if he doesn't want to hurt Donna. I think the Doctor had/has more than 'best-matey' feelings toward Donna and it seems he never realized she might have reciprocated. Still, what's done is done, and he needs to really work toward's Donna's best interests and not out of jealousy.

Wilf is a very good friend to the Doctor, and I hope he can be the voice of reason when things go pear-shaped.

Oh, quick question: does Eleven have a companion at the time of this story? My theory as to why Ten regenerated was that he totally went off his rocker after Donna and couldn't take on another companion, so he had to regenerate since the Doctor always needs someone.

Eleven is a bit conflicted here, I think, still dealing with unresolved issues from the way he left Donna behind. He's missing her and feeling guilty about it, especially about the way he chose to save her life and he wonders if there had been another way. He's traveling alone at the moment, and that's always dangerous for him. Hopefully, Wilf will keep him grounded.

Oh, the Doctor is always in denial of his true feelings. I like your take on the Ten regeneration. My intention is that this takes place when he's traveling alone, just before The Power of Three, when he finally tells Amy he misses her. I think he confessed how he felt because it was too late to tell another ginger the truth.

Thanks again for the comments. Not sure if I'm going to be able to post much tomorrow, but I'm going to try my best. If nothing else, I have a tiny bit of something intimate that I wrote for Peter and Donna awhile back but can't fit in to the storyline, but it's too.... interesting.... to leave unread.

I love it when people talk about how the Doctor sees time & timelines--it's so beautiful. But ouch, bit of foreshadowing there!

LOL, suspicious protective!Doctor. *pets him* Snort at the stork. He's going to be in for a shock when he looks up Peter and finds out he's not a Nestene or anything!
