Now we need to convince the Doctor of that; it won't be an easy sell, because I'm sure there were "more than best friends" feelings on his part, and jealousy is very hard to get over. He must move on, knowing that his best friend is very happy with her life as it is, and she is doing good with her charitable foundation. She is making a difference wherever she can. He should be happy for her, even as he finally truly mourns her loss to him.

Oh yes, It ALL came across, in a perfect blend, with nothing diluted. I really felt too how raw his feelings are that maybe Donna and the Doctor were deeply in love, and that THAT is something Donna has forgotten too, oh my heart just goes out to Peter here, SO much.
I can't wait to see how Jack relays this all to the Doctor!

Bravo! And I'll echo the other comments already made.

Oh, that made my day! I posted this morning then embarked on an epic Halloween construction session for my son, so all the kind comments were a reward for keeping at it all day. I'm glad you're enjoying this and I must say I was relieved that you all didn't think I overstated what the Doctor did to Donna. I totally understand why he did, both from a personal standpoint and in service to the narrative, but that still doesn't negate the fact that he took away her right to choose. I love the Doctor, but if I could come up with a reasonable alternative- which I'll trot out later on- then certainly he, with his big ole Time Lord brain certainly could. Then again, fear and panic do terrible things even to the best of us. Faced with losing his best friend, he panicked and that's never a good situation.
Thanks again for reading and commenting.

Hope it worked out, the costume session. I hardly did anything today, and feel like I wasted yet another day. Figuring out life and planning is harder than I gave it credit for. :/
You're welcome. It is not an overstatement to liken the Doctor to what Peter did. The Doctor does not have a good track record when it comes to honoring people's wishes. (Which should've sent even River running away, frankly.) If he really wanted to save her, he had all his friends there to bounce ideas off of. I can't wait to see the wind knocked out of the Doctor's self-righteous sails.
(I won't assume you mean what I'm posting right now. Even though I'm very proud of it.)

2. I had to read read it several times. The first couple left me unable to think coherently from the anger it provoked. When I was finally calm enough, well, you know.
3. I agree. He is a deeply romantic idealist. Which is why it would never have worked with him and Natalie. While I liked her well enough, I found her a bit shallow overall.
4. Jack IS Jack, and always will be. I got more of a "super spy" vibe from his theatrics, rather than Indiana Jones. Like "Deep Throat" and Watergate. You're right. He has to amuse himself somehow, I suppose! :D ( ... )
