Chapter 1:
Ellie fell back against the hard brick wall and let out a sigh. She threw her bag down on the concrete beside her and slide into a sitting position.
"What a Day?" She mumbled as she pulled a cigarette out. She lit it with the Zippo lighter Sean bought her on her last birthday. It was black with chrome flames. She fingered it lightly in her hand before striking it, feeling every scratch and every small dent.
"I didn't know you smoked,” said a familiar female voice from beside her. Ellie jumped a little dropping the lighter.
Emma Nelson laughed and picked up the lighter. She looked at it, fingering it the way Ellie had only moments ago.
"It's nice,” she said lighting her own cigarette before handing it back. "Present from Sean?"
Ellie nodded feeling very uneasy discussing Sean with Emma, the other love of his life.
Emma seemed to have noticed her discomfort and dropped the subject.
"I never thought I would see you here" Ellie said looking at Emma from the corner of her eye.
"Why?" Emma asked,” Because I am 'good girl'". She giggled and took a long drag off of her camel, obviously amused at the stereo-type.
"Well" Ellie answered, "yes, actually."
"I am not what everyone thinks,” Emma explained to Ellie. "I am sure you heard about Jay"
"Everyone makes mistakes,” Ellie told her. "One stupid mistakes doesn't define you, or change your definition"
"I wish it were that easy,” Emma mumbled.
Ellie flicked the remainder of her cigarette behind the dumpsters and stood up.
"I'll see you around Emma" Ellie said as she turned towards the back door of DCS.
"Ellie, wait” Emma called. She stood up and sprinted towards her. "I am really sorry about Craig and Manny"
Ellie shuffled her feet and looked directly into Emma's deep brown eyes. She seemed genuinely concerned these both shocked and touched Ellie.
"Thanks" Ellie told her.
"You know Manny, she's really...”Emma started but she didn't seem to have the words.” She’s not really that bad, Craig is just this dream of hers and he makes her act stupid."
Ellie shrugged and turned her head. She chocked back a sob and blinked away the tears. She barely knew Emma Nelson she was not going to cry in front of her.
"Ever since Manny and Craig started dating,” Emma told her moving closer her voice dropping almost to a whisper,” She’s been pulling away. I hardly ever see her anymore."

Chapter 2:
"Ever since Manny and Craig started dating" Emma told her moving closer her voice dropping almost to a whisper,” She’s been pulling away. I hardly ever see her anymore."
Ellie heard something in her tone. Sadness, disappointment and longing, it sounded like more than a best friend.
"Are you in love with her?" Ellie asked. In an instant Emma had picked up her own back pack and headed for the door but before she disappeared, she touched Ellie's face and kissed her gently.
Ellie lifted her hand to place where Emma's lips had just been. Shocked at the impetuous move and shocked at the feeling it gave her.
Ellie didn't bother going back inside the school. Once she was back at her apartment she tried to lay down on the couch and sleep. Normally an afternoon nap is a precious gift but she just couldn't sleep.
Ellie had never been close to Emma for several reasons. First and foremost they always seem to differ on issues and causes. They didn't agree on GM foods and they certainly didn't agree on Rick Murray and the way Emma handled him at first.
Besides those issues there was Sean Cameron. Everyone knew Emma was Sean's first love. The truth was the time Ellie dated Sean she watched over her shoulder, terrified that Emma would swoop in and take him back. Emma had only one boyfriend after Sean. It seemed a little unnatural that the only boys she seemed to have any contact with was Toby Isaacs and J.T.Yorke then later Jay Hoggart.
Ellie always thought Emma didn't date because she was still in love with Sean. But after today she had to wonder was Emma in love with Manny Santos.
"Why should I care?" Ellie wondered aloud to herself. Almost mechanically her fingers went to her lips, she closed her eyes and remembered the feeling she got after Emma kissed her.
She suddenly leapt off of the couch and put her shoes on. Ellie knew she would never sleep tonight or finish her homework if she didn't figure this out. Something about Emma captivated Ellie and she couldn't let it go.
Ellie walked slowly up to the front door of Emma's house. She shook a little as she reached up to knock on the door.
"Ellie?" Mr. Simpson said as he opened the door.
"Hi, Mr. Simpson" Ellie said. "Is Emma here?"
"Sure" he told her and he stepped back and motioned for Ellie to come inside. "Come on in"
Ellie walked into the front hallway and Mr. Simpson led her through the kitchen. He stopped at a closed door and knocked.
"Em" he called as he knocked. "Emma, you have a guest here to see you."
Ellie heard Footsteps and the door opened. Emma stood there in a light blue tank top and navy blue boxer shorts rolled up at the waist. She leaned casually against the door frame and smiled at Ellie.
"Ellie's here to see you" Mr. Simpson told her.
She grabbed Ellie's arm and led her inside.
"Thanks snake" Emma called over her shoulder before she closed her bedroom door. Emma walked down the stairs and sat down on the bed, her legs crossed.
"Have a seat" Emma offered Ellie, motioning to the chair beside her desk. Ellie didn't sit but chose to stand in front of Emma's bed.
"I came to talk about the conversation we had early" Ellie told her. Emma cocked her head and looked puzzled.
"Conversation?" Emma repeated. "I am sorry. I don't remember."
"Outside" Ellie reminded her. "During our smoke break."
"Oh, yes" Emma said. "I remember now, what about it"
"I asked you a question and you never answered me." Ellie continued.
"What question was that?" Emma asked.
"Are you in love with Manny Santos?" Ellie asked her voice taking on the tone of her increasing frustration.
Emma smiled and picked up her hairbrush. She took a moment before answering running the dark blue hairbrush through her silky blonde hair.
"That question doesn't have an exact answer" Emma told her honestly. "I have asked myself the same question a number of times. Manny and I have been friends a really long time. It's no secret that Manny has always been more popular with boys than I have. But when she has been in between boyfriends we...."
She trailed off looking into space while still brushing her hair. The look on her face suggested she was searching for the words to describe what she was trying to explain.
"We had amazing sex" she finished.” For the last couple of years."
Ellie was shocked. She knew Emma and Manny were close and today she wondered if Emma had feelings for Manny. But she never expected to hear that Emma and Manny had been involved sexually.
Emma put the hair brush down. She leaned back on her hands.
"Now, I have to ask Ellie" Emma said. "Why did you come all the way over here to ask?"
"I am not sure" Ellie told her. Ellie moved and sat down on Emma's bed. "Ever since we talked earlier I couldn't get it, or you, out of my head."
Ellie's hand went to her mouth and she stared at Emma.
"The kiss" Emma said as if reading her mind. "I am sorry if it bothered you"
"It just confused me" Ellie replied.
"I don't know why I kissed you" Emma whispered scooting closer to Ellie. She took Ellie's hand. "I have always respected you. I loved you for making Sean happy and I cried for both of us when he left. I feel like I have lost Manny. She lives here and we sleep in this bed together but she's never here, not really. I wanted to feel close to someone again."
"Then why did you run away?" Ellie asked her voice low and hoarse with the building emotion inside of her. Emma as so close to Ellie that she could feel Emma's breath on her skin. Emma continued to move closer.
"I didn't know how you would react and I didn't want to answer that question" Emma said. She pressed her cheek against Ellie's and whispered in her ear, Emma's voice full of lust and passion sent a chill up Ellie's spine.” What did you come here for, Ellie?"
"I don't know" Ellie answered truthfully. "I really don't know"
Ellie's hand moved up Emma's body and landed on her slender waist. Her other hand resting on the bed to stabilize her.
Emma pulled her face back and looked directly in Ellie's eyes. Moments later Ellie tried to pull away, terrified by the intensity.
"I should go" Ellie said trying to keep her voice even. But Emma put her hand on ellie's shoulder not too forcefully but enough to keep her from jumping up and running away.
"Stay" Emma whispered. "Stay for tonight. I can give you what you need"

Ellie's hand moved up Emma's body and landed on her slender waist. Her other hand resting on the bed to stabilize her.
Emma pulled her face back and looked directly in Ellie's eyes. Moments later Ellie tried to pull away, terrified by the intensity.
"I should go" Ellie said trying to keep her voice even. But Emma put her hand on ellie's shoulder not too forcefully but enough to keep her from jumping up and running away.
"Stay" Emma whispered. "Stay for tonight. I can give you what you need"
A voice in Ellie's head screamed at her to run away. But her body wouldn't let her. Ellie's hand found it's way back to Emma's waist. Emma had postioned herself right in front of Ellie, her arm snaking it's way around her neck. Emma leaned in to Ellie and placed soft kisses on her neck. They had an effect on her like no boy ever had and she knew no boy could.
"Mmmmh" she moaned as Emma nipped at her ear lobe. Almost against her will Ellie's hand rubbed Emma's lower back and they found their way under the tank top.
Emma lowered Ellie to the bed and starddled her placing a hard kiss on her mouth. Ellie's lips parted automatically, allowing Emma to slip her tongue inside. While Emma's tongue danced with Ellie's her hands preformed a dance of their own. Emma placed her hand on Ellie's shirt cupping her perky, breast. She flicked her fingers of the nipple expertly causing ellie to arch her back and moan once more.

"Hi, Em" she called grabbing clothes out of a basket. "I am staying at Paige's tonight."
"Ok" Emma said as her hand toyed with the waist band of Ellie's jeans.
Manny stopped at the foot of the bed squinting in the dark, Ellie guessed she trying to figure out who Emma was screwing around with.
"Ellie?" she asked. Manny laughed and shook her head. "Well, what do you know?"
"Do you mind?" Emma asked impatiently. She was traling kisses down Ellie abdomen.
"No" Manny told her and turned back to the window. "Don't worry Ellie, I never tell anyone about who I find Emma in bed with"
Ellie heard the window shut and she jumped. Emma was unzipping Ellie's jeans.
"Stop" Ellie cried trying tto jump to her feet.
