a way of life that will surely be gone

I'm watching The 4400 -- I had seen the first season back when it premiered, and I've caught many reruns on Skiffy -- but I'm finally doing it properly. Last night I finished season 2.

Yes, to everything you said about The 4400. I miss the show. :(

Haven't seen Avatar, probably won't until it's on video, but from everything I've heard about it... I'm not sure I want to watch it now. Meh.

I'm up to mid-S3 now and SO MUCH has already changed from what I wrote in this post that I just can't wrap my head around it. What a great mindfuck-y show The 4400 is! :)

I don't regret having watched Avatar or anything, but I'm VERY glad there's smart people on the internets calling it as it really is.

OH, PEOPLE. I had to tell my co-worker that I wouldn't be going to watch Avatar because it was the exact same plot as Dances With Wolves and The Last Samurai, and I was kind of tired of that plot (and then I snuck "white man's burden kind of film" in there, but I don't know if she knows what that even means, she's kind of, um, not that bright), and I have no idea why this kind of plot doesn't bore people senseless after all these years (on top of all the racial fail, which I totally agree with).

Okay, run on sentence from hell there, sorry. :(

Anyway, oddly enough, most people understand better if you add "I am bored with that plot" onto "that plot is kind of failtastic in many ways." ETA: And by "understand better" I mean "react less badly to the idea of the fail." IDEK sometimes, and am a bucket of ramble today anyway.

I admit -- I don't really have the patience to deal with people who consume any and all entertainment as pretty mindless candy. But hey, whatever floats their boat.

However, I won't EVER be okay with people telling me to stop analyzing, critiquing, thinking about the entertainment *I* consume.

EXACTLY. And it's especially true to TV shows, yes. I can understand not seeing any fault whatsoever in a movie, but in serialized story? WHAT?

Seriously. People who love any TV show blindingly thinking everything about it is perfect are either extremely stupid or just plain lying.

I'm so glad you're liking The 4400! I don't know many people who watched it, so I'm usually alone in my love.

Tom/Alana will totally grow on you, though I always did ship Tom/Diana a bit throughout the whole series. Marco! Is! Adorable! I luff him. And Diana and Maia might be my mother/daughter OTP. They're awesome.

I won't say much more, because I can't remember exactly when everything happens so I don't want to accidentally spoil you.

I'm now in the middle of S3 and HOLY CRAP this season is INSANE. The 2-parter in which Maia disappeared about KILLED ME. Ah!

I like Tom/Alana, I really do. I just tend to 'ship from the start and so I got a bit stuck in Tom/Diana and now I can't shake it. Hee.
