In the recent past, I read a novel in which that main character discovers that his fiance is the oldest daughter of (one of?) the wealthiest families on earth. When he discovers that he expected to take over the family empire someday if he marries her, he escapes with the help of her younger sister. He really has nowhere to run where he can't be
