And Aral tying Miles' act back to his regrets over what happened on Komarr... damn. That never even occurred to me before, but wow it makes so much sense. Terrible sense, but sense. Maaaaaan.
Thank you! It was ... actually pretty late in the writing of this that I figured out the OH, KOMARR part, but that was the moment where I felt like I'd really figured out the point of the story. I'm glad it worked for you!
OK, so I actually meant to tell you this already, but I love this SO FREAKING MUCH. I cannot even. The last scene with them ll on the couch -- amazing. You make this fit into canon so naturally. Gorgeous.
Oh wow! Wow! You added such depth to what could have been a simple missing scene fic. All the repercussions of Miles' act, vividly shining in all directions, even back in time...
This is great! I love all the little touches, the repercussions of Miles' treason, Gregor offering to do whatever Aral wants, Aral thinking of things he couldn't have done at Solstice. And the last scene, with Cordelia and Jole and their shared love for Aral was just perfect. And now I can't stop thinking about what happens next, once Gregor disappears and things suddenly become so much worse. It's been in my head for a while now, that Jole must have been right in the heart of that mess.
More depth and nuance in a series with so many layers of emotion and interpersonal possibilities. The final extended image of the exchanges and realizations of the three--Cordelia plus Aral and Arkady--as they comfort and are comforted on the sofa a great summation of the relationships here.

Jole will definitely be right in the middle of the whole crisis of Gregor's disappearance and the Hegen Hub conflict. :)
