Live Free or Die Hard Fic: Pulling the Thorn

Well, now I only have one more Die Hard fic in progress...

Thanks to iuliamentis and lamardeuse for encouraging and audiencing! This is what happens when I watch Die Hard while already in a state of uncontrollable love for John McClane. JOHN MCCLANE, BE MY VALENTINE. OR BE MATT'S, AT LEAST.

McClane/Farrell. PG. 1,527 words.

*flails* How do you do this in 1500 words? HOW?

I don't know whether to cheer John on for opening up to Matt or cry for all the pain he went through.

My heart broke a bit for Matt on this part, "He calls Matt his boyfriend but the word always has an intonation halfway between a joke and a question. When he calls Holly his ex-wife, the emphasis is never really on ex..." but I'm glad he got how important it was that John was telling him about his feet.

Thank you! I like to think this is a generally hopeful place for John and Matt and their relationship.

That's a little bit heartbreaking, and a whole lot of awesome

Okay. I have to admit I LOVE the Die Hard movies, not because they're great pieces of cinematic wonderment! but because of John McClane. Dude. He's just....explosions, fighting through the pain, all go, all guts, no quit. but I've never read the fic.

But I popped over by way of lamardeuse and yay! So glad I did!

John is so John here, the piercing glare that goes right thru Matt, the casual digging of his heel into Matt's leg. the weariness in his voice. *sigh* yes. Exactly perfect! And of course, Matt is pretty perfect too.

But this: "I got so many new things I could fuck up with you, what's the point of fucking up the same ones over again?"

Learning from the past fuck-ups and putting good use to the lesson? Yes. That is maturity and manliness.

Thanks for sharing this!

So much good in this. I don't even know what to point out.

"I got so many new things I could fuck up with you, what's the point of fucking up the same ones over again?"

Awww. Old dog, tons of new tricks.

Excellent work here.

Thank you! You have to hand it to McClane, he adapts to circumstances. :)
