What do we know about Ianto Jones, or about Hufflepuff (Hogwarts, Wizarding society in general) that says Ianto couldn't in fact have actually been a Hufflepuff, now living undercover while exploring the Muggle approach to Unexplained Phenomena with Torchwood? The two cosmologies fit together oddly

Hmm. He'd be a Muggleborn, I think.

But he does strike me as rather a Gryffinpuff, in the Neville Longbottom mode.

Yeah, Muggleborn or raised much among Muggles due to odd family circumstances, I think. Hufflepuff I take as received wisdom from ellen_fremedon and sanj, who are fond of referring to him that way; I'm pants at Sorting myself. :)

But yes, much of what I love about Ianto is his courage and competence while being overshadowed.

Well, I say this in large part because I'm in the miserable sticky middle-end part of a Torchwood epic and I Don't Wanna work on that one. So this is going to have to go to the back of the line, at least for a little while...
