The Step Inn, Brisbane
Violent Soho, Eat Laser Scumbag, Dick Nasty, Turnpike, No Anchor

First real chance to test out my shiny new lens under the conditions I really bought it for -- appallingly dim lighting. It did really well. Quite sharp, and a definite improvement on the 50mm f/1.8.

Regarding the last note to me about possible photography: I'd say this is pretty damn good support for that :x These are fabulous. I'm in love with the first with its colours and the focus and and and things.

I'm starting to think it's something worth exploring more. At the very least it'll stop me from going mental...

This is the 1.4? You're making me regret the 1.8. Really nice fist and last images.. I'd go for the colour one - if you shot it in RAW then with some work it can be brought alive a bit more but that's just my tastes.

And the bokeh looks so much smoother than that of the 1.8..dammit

I always shoot raw now, so yeah.

Thing is I don't like the framing -- the left edge is the very edge of the photo (moving subjects etc etc). That's I tried the crop ... and a dodgy flood fill with black to extend the photo out a bit to improve the composition. I doubt I have the skill to do that with a colour version.

But I'm sure I could improve the colouration without too much effort.

D.
ps: the bokeh on the 1.4 is awesome. The 1.8 has shit bokeh -- very jagged. :x
