This thought never occured to me. Anyway I think he didn't planned to get attaced, well he is not crazy. He could presume something like this, but we know how optimistic Fraser is. And he still hoped to get some support from his friends. That's why Fraser was so dejected after he got attacked by Warfield's goons.
