*flails* They are so made for each other. I love how you wrote Vecchio falling head over heals for Kowalski, and Kowalski attempting to save the world is always a good thing. :D

Thank you! I think Vecchio playing keeper to Kowalski is a sort of addiction for me. I don't know why it gets to me so much, but I get such a kick out of it. :)

I'm flailing my arms around too! This was so them. I loved Vecchio's threat to call Kowalski's mom about his ratty undies. Hee! Wonderful, wonderful story, Brigantine.

Heh heh. Thank you kindly! My grandmother had this thing about the kids always having clean underwear in case they were in an accident, and that just popped into my head right there. *snort*

This is AWESOME!!!!!

So many quotable lines: "Christ on a crutch," Kowalski complained, "you let a guy touch your eyeballs and he thinks he owns you!"

The entire bull pen went silent. Every detective in the room stopped, turned, and stared, like a herd of startled wildebeest checking out the lions on the African savannah.

Ray and Kowalski looked at each other for a second and then burst out laughing.

and

"She's your mother, Kowalski. Arizona is not far enough away for you to be safe from your mother. China is not far enough away for you to be safe."

and so many more.

This is probably The. Most. Perfect. Ray/Ray story EVAH!!!

YAY YOU!

My goodness, thank you very much! :D :D

Have you read pir8fancier's way cool Ray/Ray fic, A Year In the Life, More or Less? I ask because your name is new and shiny to me, so I thought I'd pass along a favorite. \rays/

\o/ This made me so happy. I love the Rays like this! Sweet and funny and adorkable. And maybe you can resurrect the porn as an epilogue :-)

The hospital scene. Kowalski's eyeball issues. Ray's observations about Kowalski's morning attire. All fantastic.

A few of my favorite lines:

with Kowalski, to hunch is to act

"Upon reflection," Welsh informed them agreeably, "I find you worth the space you take up."

Then he started thinking about other parts of Kowalski that were covered by blankets and ratty underwear, and he told himself he was a bad, bad man, and he went to make the coffee.

He'd kissed Kowalski while the guy was half-conscious on a gurney in the ambulance, like Prince Moron and Bleeding Beauty. What was he, unhinged?

Thank you kindly!

Ray/Ray-snark is always fun for me, whether I'm writing it or reading it. :)

Y'know, I've been contemplating doing the porny bits as a sort of epilogue. That part was what actually started me writing the story, but then by the end it didn't fit. I mean, what the heck?

Oh, nice. I love every bit of this. :) :)

Also, Vecchio is right. There is no distance to great for a mother to be intimidating. This is a *good* thing. *g*
