Two quick things:
"In retro perspective" should be "In retrospect"
"And, different to John, I need a little time t readjust" should be "And, unlike John, I need a little time to readjust"

I loved your metaphors, especially the garden hose one for some reason. I could just visualize it perfectly.

That's horrible, lovely writing. The really sad thing is that's what I always think will happen to John if he does get cured.
